So, you’re looking for the best tasting vanilla protein powders, but you’re not sure what to pick since there’s too many to choose from.
Protein has come a long way since I got into the fitness scene.
I’ll never forget buying my first chocolate protein powder, and how I quickly took that tub and threw it in the garbage!
Honestly, it was so long ago, I can’t even remember the name of the brand.
Let me assure you, I haven’t seen it since, so my guess is that nasty product was taken off the shelves a long time ago!
This is a good thing.

Finding an effective lean protein powder (meaning it actually helps you lose weight and build muscle) is one thing, but finding one that is effective and tastes good, this is another story!
I am going to cover the 5 best tasting vanilla protein powders for losing weight, all of which are great quality lean protein powders.
Before I do, I want to first cover WHY you need protein.
Why Protein is necessary?
Protein is one of the most important nutrients you can use for weight loss.
In fact, a high protein diet boosts metabolism, reduces your appetite and plays a big role in several weight-regulating hormones (1, 2, 3).
Protein also has a much higher thermic effect (20-30% higher) compared to the other macros, fats, and carbs (4).
This means it aids in burning more calories.
So, by having a high protein intake, your body actually boosts your metabolism enough to increase the number of calories you burn each day by an extra 80-100 per day (5).
Okay, enough the with all the crazy facts, won’t protein make you look like Arnold Schwarzenegger?
If you’re a woman, this might be a slight concern for you.
Let me assure you, IT SHOULDN’T BE!
Didn’t you read what I wrote above?
Just kidding.
Seriously though, protein alone will not make you like Lou Ferrigno.
Unless you’re eating like a cow, powerlifting tires over your head, and injecting anabolic steroids (please don’t), then you have nothing to worry about!
Best Tasting Vanilla Protein Powders For 2020
Not only do you want to ensure you have the best-tasting protein shake possible, but you also want to make sure that it’s not loaded with a bunch of nonsense.
I have a personal story I want to share about a friend of mine.
He decided he wanted to use a mass gainer (mass gainers, in my opinion, are pointless), but didn’t want to spend the extra money on a good quality product.
The end result…
He definitely put on weight, BUT NOT THE RIGHT KIND!
This was a guy who ALWAYS had a six-pack (born with the genes of the Greek gods), but even with his amazing genetics, they weren’t strong enough to stop him from looking like he was in his 3rd trimester.
I suspect that you probably don’t care about mass gainers, but you should care about a good quality product.
Just because it tastes good, doesn’t mean you should use it!
End of rant!
My point is, you want to make sure it doesn’t contain garbage.
Things to consider when looking for the best tasting vanilla protein powders…
1. Casein & Whey Protein Concentrate
These ingredients are high in lactose, which more often than not cause bloating, farting, and gastrointestinal problems for some individuals.
A good protein will have little no trace amounts of these in them.
2. Gluten
We are aware of what gluten intolerances and Celiac disease are.
This is one ingredient that has ZERO business being in any protein powder.
Gluten has been known for causing hormonal imbalances, skin conditions, fatigue, and headaches for people who don’t even have a gluten intolerance or autoimmune disorder.
3. Soy Protein
Almost all soy proteins are genetically-modified, loaded with pesticides, and cause a number of hormonal imbalances including thyroid problems.
AVOID IT!
4. Vegetable Oils
There are few oils in general that are considered okay for human consumption.
Sorry to say, but vegetable oils aren’t one of them.
The ONLY oils that are considered okay to consume are coconut oil and olive oil.
Although, olive oil becomes toxic if exposed to high heat temperatures (you probably won’t see that in protein anyway).
Just stay away from them!
5. Fillers
These are usually added in so the companies can save money!
Some examples of these would be coconut flour (not to be confused with coconut oil) and psyllium.
These can cause gastrointestinal issues like constipation and bloat.
6. Content Of Sugar
While sugar may be able to add some beneficial taste to your protein powder, it is not ideal for helping you reach your goals.
If you’re investing in a high-quality vanilla protein powder, you want to make sure it doesn’t contain much more than a few grams of sugar.
Typically, all protein powder will have trace amounts, just be careful yours doesn’t contain too much.
7. Manufacturing Location
Purchasing a US-made protein supplement, unfortunately, doesn’t guarantee that the product wasn’t made with any impurities, foreign substances, or sadly any illegal substances.
To truly ensure you’re purchasing a quality protein, invest in products from companies that adhere to strict GMP guidelines.
8. Protein Content
Probably the most notable part to take into account is how much protein your product actually contains.
Typically, anything above 20 grams per servings is considered good, anything below is not worth investing your money into.
9. Flavor
The most important and obvious determining factor for considering your purchase.
Since the focus of this article is on vanilla protein, I’m sure that you want to find one that satisfies your hankering for vanilla.
Avoid chunky chalky nasty flavored proteins and make sure to do your research before purchasing.
Alright, I’ve educated you quite enough!
Finally, now for the best vanilla tasting protein powders for 2020!

Yet again, another good tasting protein powder. You are getting a MOSTLY whey isolate protein powder. It’s grass-fed, so that’s always a plus (probably why it’s more expensive). Amazon gave Driven Whey one the BEST rating, a 4.7 out of 5.0.
